Senior Airman Jason D. Cunningham

Senior Airman Jason D. Cunningham served as a Pararescueman during Operation Anaconda in Afghanistan on March 4, 2002. Despite suffering life-threatening wounds, he repeatedly exposed himself to enemy fire while treating injured Soldiers and coordinating medical evacuations. Refusing medical attention for himself, Cunningham remained focused on saving others until he succumbed to his injuries. His extraordinary courage, selfless service, and unwavering devotion to his teammates earned him the Air Force Cross, making him one of the most recognized enlisted heroes of the Global War on Terror.
