Senior Airman Caleb D. Heidelberg

Senior Airman Caleb D. Heidelberg distinguished himself through extraordinary heroism while serving in Afghanistan as part of the Air Force Special Tactics community. During intense combat, he repeatedly placed himself in harm's way to protect fellow service members while helping coordinate airpower under enemy fire. His calm decision-making, courage, and commitment to mission success contributed directly to the survival of allied forces during the engagement. For his exceptional valor and leadership in combat, Heidelberg was awarded the Silver Star.
